Publishing Open Educational Resources Seminar

CEU presents a seminar exploring the possibilities of writing and publishing an Open Educational Resource – an online, open access textbook. It will introduce to what OERs are, showcase some examples and take you through what is involved in writing and publishing one. Topics covered include – how to assemble the right team; best practices on writing for a digital platform; quality control, editing and peer review; and ensuring your OER is widely accessible to all.

Jen McCall has over 30 years’ experience in the academic publishing industry. Her previous roles include those at Cambridge University Press, Wiley, and Palgrave Macmillan, where she was the Publisher for the history list, and Editorial Director of the scholarly humanities department. In 2025, she managed CEU Press’s first OER project, Ukraine as a Migration Nexus and is taking a key role at the Press in developing an OER publishing arm.
