Statistics is a foundational tool for understanding, analyzing, and interpreting social phenomena. This introductory course provides students with essential statistical concepts and applied skills needed in the social sciences, psychology, education, public policy, and humanitarian research. The course emphasizes conceptual understanding, real-world application, and ethical use of data, rather than mathematical derivations. Students will learn how to describe data, analyze relationships between variables, understand probability and basic statistical inference, and communicate findings clearly using statistical software such as R.
The course is designed for diverse learners across the GHEA21 network, including students from crisis-affected and resource-limited contexts, and adopts an inclusive, supportive, and applied learning approach.
