Global Higher Education Alliance
for the 21st century

New name, same mission.

The Global Higher Education Alliance for the 21st Century, known as GHEA21, builds on the work of the Open Society University Network (OSUN), which successfully developed a new model of global higher education.

GHEA21 is a network of diverse institutions committed to advancing access to liberal arts and sciences education that prepares students to address fundamental global challenges as thoughtful and engaged citizens. GHEA21 provides unrivaled opportunities for students to pursue global learning with faculty from around the world.

Application Open: CEU Summer University 2026

The Summer University Program of the Central European University invites applications to summer courses in 2026. The program takes place fully in person, during June-July 2026, on CEU’s Budapest site, and offers seven intensive interdisciplinary courses in social sciences, humanities, arts, legal studies, higher education quality and pedagogy, and civic engagement. Deadline to apply is March 1.

Global Degree

A synchronous online degree program offering Bard AA and BA degrees and academic certificates to students affected by displacement and exile.

Events and Opportunities

Engaging students through workshops and fellowships, and supporting faculty through collaborative teaching and curriculum development.

Academic Certificates

Certificates are a way for non-degree students, including refugee and displaced learners, to obtain credits and formal evidence of sustained university study.

Civic Engagement Fellowship

The fellowship is a year-long program designed to equip students across the network with the skills and knowledge to lead impactful civic engagement initiatives.
