New name, same mission.

The Global Higher Education Alliance for the 21st Century, known as GHEA21, builds on the work of the Open Society University Network (OSUN), which successfully developed a new model of global higher education.

GHEA21 is a network of diverse institutions committed to advancing access to liberal arts and sciences education that prepares students to address fundamental global challenges as thoughtful and engaged citizens. GHEA21 provides unrivaled opportunities for students to pursue global learning with faculty from around the world.

Registration for Summer and Fall 2026 Online Courses Opens on April 10

Starting April 10 at 4 AM EDT, students across GHEA21 are invited to register for Online Courses. With topics ranging from human rights to literature to religion, OCs offer an invaluable opportunity for studying alongside students from all over the world.

Global Degree

A synchronous online degree program offering Bard AA and BA degrees and academic certificates to students affected by displacement and exile.

Events and Opportunities

Engaging students through workshops and fellowships, and supporting faculty through collaborative teaching and curriculum development.

Academic Certificates

Certificates are a way for non-degree students, including refugee and displaced learners, to obtain credits and formal evidence of sustained university study.

Civic Engagement Fellowship

The fellowship is a year-long program designed to equip students across the network with the skills and knowledge to lead impactful civic engagement initiatives.
