Applications for Course Proposals for 2026-2027

Deadline: Friday, October 10, 2025
We are pleased to invite proposals for Spring 2026 for Online Courses and Spring 2026 and Academic Year 2026-27 for Network Collaborative Courses.

Online Courses are offered by a single institution to students from multiple partner institutions. They take place entirely online and include students from the host institution. Students register through a centralized application portal and are then enrolled at the institution that offers the course and receive course credit transferred from that institution. (Staff at participating institutions are eligible to register for Online Courses, subject to their home institution's approval.)

Network Collaborative Courses (NCCs) are co-created by faculty across partner institutions and are taught in collaboration at two or more partner campuses. These courses expose students to diverse perspectives through a wide range of cross-network readings, assignments and activities. NCCs may entail longer (full-semester) or shorter, more modular (4-6 weeks) cross-network collaboration. (All lead faculty and co-faculty involved with planning proposed Network Collaborative Courses must be registered in the Network Portal by the time of the proposal submission.)

Faculty are asked to secure approval from their home institution to offer their proposed courses prior to submitting the form.

In reviewing proposals, priority will be given to courses that contribute to the following Academic Certificates. The certificate committees will review course applications and if the course is approved, they will work with faculty to align the courses to meet the certificate criteria.
  • Civic Engagement*  Courses that connect students to local or international communities and that incorporate some kind of civic engagement activity as part of the course requirements.
  • Human Rights*  Courses that offer students opportunities to work hands-on with local practitioners; that respond directly to contemporary challenges to the human rights paradigm; that focus on human rights questions from within disciplines other than law and politics; or within the field of law and politics that address fundamental aspects of human rights law and international systems.
  • Democracy***  Courses from the social sciences that concern authoritarian resurgence, democratic erosion, and democratic resilience around the world.
  • Global Humanities**  Courses that explore human culture and experience from the perspectives of the arts, the humanities, and literature.
  • Global Studies**  Courses that explore themes such as the crisis in global democracy, international security, designing social change in complex environments, and the cross-cutting impact of AI. Regional focuses on the Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe, and South America are especially encouraged.
  • Sustainability and Climate Solutions**  Courses that focus on sustainability and climate solutions in the arts, the natural and social sciences, the humanities, engineering, business and law.
  • Technology and Society***  Courses that explore the creation, development, uses, and impacts of science and technology in historical, cultural, or social contexts.
* Currently open for student applications.
** Expected to launch in spring 2026; applications will be available by December 1.
