Call for Course Proposals for Summer 2026 and Academic Year 2026-2027

Call for Course Proposals for Summer 2026 and Academic Year 2026-2027

Deadline: Friday, February 20, 2026
Online Event
GHEA21 is inviting proposals for Online Courses for Summer and Fall 2026 and Network Collaborative Courses for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027.

Online Courses are offered by a single institution to students across GHEA21. They take place entirely online and include students from the host institution.

Network Collaborative Courses (NCCs) are co-created and co-taught by faculty across two or more partner institutions. These courses expose students to diverse perspectives through collaborative, cross-institution assignments and activities. NCCs may entail longer (full-semester) or shorter, more modular (4-6 weeks) cross-network collaboration. All lead faculty and co-faculty involved in proposed NCCs must be registered in the GHEA21 Portal by the time of the proposal submission.

Faculty are expected to secure approval from their home institution to offer their proposed courses prior to submitting the form.

In reviewing proposals, priority will be given to courses that contribute to GHEA21 Academic Certificates in the following ways:
  • Civic Engagement: Courses that connect students to local or international communities and incorporate civic engagement activity.
  • Human Rights: Courses that focus on human rights questions within disciplines other than law and politics or offer opportunities to work hands-on with local practitioners.
  • Sustainability and Climate Solutions: Courses that focus on sustainability and climate solutions in the arts, natural or social sciences, humanities, engineering, business, or law.
  • Democracy:* Social sciences courses focused on authoritarian resurgence, democratic erosion, and democratic resilience.
  • Global Humanities: Courses that explore human culture and experience from the perspectives of the arts, humanities, and literature.
  • Global Studies: Courses that explore the crisis in global democracy, international security, social change in complex environments, or impacts of AI. Regional focuses on the Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe, and South America are especially encouraged.
  • Technology and Society:** Courses that explore the creation, development, uses, and impacts of technology in historical, cultural, social, economic, or political contexts.
* Expected to launch in Fall 2027. ** Expected to launch in Spring 2027.
