Smolny Beyond Borders

Damir Malikov is an AI Lead at Kronika.io, where he designs and deploys AI systems that help researchers and organizations make sense of large, messy, multilingual datasets. His day-to-day work includes building RAG pipelines, AI agents, entity extraction systems, and automated analysis tools — often for media archives, human rights documentation, and civic tech projects. He has taught workshops on applying LLMs to Russian-language research at the University of Washington and has collaborated with human rights organizations on AI-assisted investigation tools. Before Kronika, he worked as a Senior AI/NLP Engineer building production ML infrastructure.
