Ilya Kalinin

Smolny Beyond Borders

Ilya Kalinin is a visiting scholar at Bard Berlin as well as at Humboldt University (Berlin, Germany). He got his PhD at Saint Petersburg State University (the title of his thesis was “Russian Literary Utopia, XVIII-XX Centuries: The Philosophy and Poetics of the Genre.” (2002)). His recent researches focus on Russian Literature, early Soviet intellectual and cultural history, and on the historical and cultural politics of contemporary Russia (post-soviet social and cultural transformations; identity politics and politics of history in contemporary Russia). He is editor-in-chief of the independent intellectual journal Versus. Journal of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His essays have been translated into 15 languages and published in a wide range of journals
