John Stanlake

American University of Afghanistan

John is an academic leader and instructor specializing in pre-university bridge programs and Academic English. Currently a member of the faculty at the American University of Afghanistan, he has dedicated his career to increasing higher education access across South Asia, the Middle East, and East Africa

John has previously held directorships and teaching roles at Brac University, the Asian University for Women (Bangladesh), the American University of Iraq Sulaimani, and WorldTeach in Guyana and Rwanda. He holds an MSc in International Relations from the University of Bristol (UK) and a Bachelor's in European Politics from the University of Nottingham (UK). His professional focus lies at the intersection of academic quality assurance, curriculum design, and the development of sustainable pathways for undergraduate success.
