Maria Rowena Briones

Central European University

Maria Rowena Briones has a PhD in Sociology and Social Anthropology, summa cum laude, from Central European University, with a dissertation on the punishment, welfare and the drug campaign in the Philippines. Post- doc, she seeks more global yet grounded analyses of the functioning of state institutions, on one hand, and the many configurations of political and cultural cognitions of social actors. This course is an exploration of how something so ordinary as food consumption is extra ordinary in its insights on how institutions and actors alike think and act.
