Persheng Vaziri

Afghan Female Student Outreach

Persheng Vaziri's research, writing, and teaching are concentrated on documentary films, society, and the role of power in determining filmmakers' work, particularly in Iran. She has taught film and media studies at Penn State Harrisburg, Hofstra University, and Temple University. Her current book project is on Iranian Documentary filmmakers’ work process is due for publication by University of Texas Press in 2026. Her personal documentaries are about Iranian society, the immigrant experience in the U.S., and her Kurdish heritage. She holds advanced degrees in cinema studies and media studies from New York University and Temple University .
