Sagynbek Orunbaev

American University of Central Asia

Dr Sagynbek Orunbaev is an associate professor of Environmental Sciences at the Applied Geology department of AUCA since the Spring, of 2017. Sagynbek is a geo-data scientist, geophysicist, inventor. He has more than 20 years of professional experience in geospatial data analytics for environmental, seismological, agricultural, and archaeological applications, experimenting with geophysical instruments and software, and managing and mentoring international R&D teams. He co-developed and is currently a president of the Kyrgyz Association on Safety of Dams (KyrCOLD) and a member of the International Committee on Large Dams (ICOLD). He has previously served as project leader for a few German foundations supporting projects related to Site Effect studies of capital cities in Central Asia. Orunbaev has made over 50 peer-reviewed research papers (h-index = 13; i-index = 12; October 2023).
